Stratford University and K. K. Modi Group signed a joint venture agreement on the university’s main campus in Falls Church, Virginia on Oct. 1 to establish one campus and two learning sites in India.

The Modi Group’s vision for education, in terms of helping individuals achieve their career goals through competence-based education, and their vision of using education to help achieve the goals of industry and the economic development.

Dr. Richard R. Shurtz, II, the President of Stratford University, indicated that in the next 25 years, 45 million additional individuals in India will enter the workforce, and during the same period, the world will incur a labor shortage of about an equal number of people.

K. K. Modi, the chairman of K. K. Modi Investment and Financial Services, said the three months that he spent at Harvard in 1984, when he did an advanced management program, was the most interesting period for him. Then he discovered a unique method of education.

MAII - Freshers Party

This year’s Freshers’ Party at the F-Bar in Hotel Ashok. The buzz surrounding this year’s party was very high even before it actually happened due to the fact it was being held in F-Bar. Like every year, the Mr. and Ms. Fresher competition was held during the party. The winners of the competition were Akshay Kapoor and Neha Dhawan. However, the event that headlined the night was the finale of MAII got voice! MAII got voice was a singing competition organized by our university in the month of September 2008. The students of this university came up with the idea of such an event as a competition like this had never been organized in this college before. Through MAII got voice we intended to discover and promote the hidden singing talent in the college. The event was based on the format of shows such as American and Indian idol and was promoted throughout the month of August. We held the auditions in September, in which 8 participants progressed to the semifinal. The popularity of the event was evident in the semi final itself as the crowd turned up in numbers that shocked even the organizers. The finalists on the night of Freshers’ Party were Rajshree Sarkar, Kelly Lwin, Siddhartha Tripathy, Gurdeep Singh and Avash Nirloa. We had two beautiful celebrity judges for the event, the popular singer Shibani Kashyap and Miss India World 1991, Shivani Wazir. Gurdeep Singh thrilled everyone with his amazing performance and was declared the winner of MAII got voice. Kelly Lwin and Avash Nirola entertained everyone immensely as well and were declared the runner up for the event. The host of the night was Utkarsh Kumar.

A Day in life of MAII Student

Education, learning, fun, activities, festivals, functions…….food, snacks, gym, pool tables……..as a WIU student, you experience all this and more in a typical day……..you prepare your projects, presentations, assignments; you prepare for participation in a cultural competitions; you also prepare for annual function and Fresher party.

A student narrates her typical day at MAII like this:

As I enter the college I am greeted by a broad smile by the receptionist which reassures me and gives me the confidence to pursue my objectives. In the class everyone gets tense but professors are so wonderful- it is an economics class and I am allergic to numbers but the way he explains demand and supply he makes it almost enjoyable and moreover, he arouses enough supply of interest and curiosity to meet the demands of my intellect.
The counselor explains and guides me efficiently that I feel I had always belonged to the place. My experience at the IT lab is great. The warm welcome soon puts me at ease. In the IT lab where technology spreads like wild fire I am also readily accepted as part and parcel of it.
I can’t end with out mentioning the cafeteria that is a heaven for the most of us. When we are tired with the classes we not only refresh ourselves with what we eat there but exchange gossip, notes and have heated discussions. It is my favorite haunt were I can sit around and relax with my friends.
I shouldn’t forget the library either but that’s another proposition where we go to find books, take notes and prepare for a submission that is the serious learning as compared to the lively atmosphere of the canteen.

There’s a focus not only on just academic learning but also activities which help a student to develop a wholesome personality. The pool room has been a place of competition where a healthy spirits of participation is encouraged. Recently held pool competition was rocking!!!!!!!
Plays and inter-college dance and singing competitions bring out the hidden talents of students. We get to participate in competitions like T-Shirt painting competition, debate competition, presentation skills competition. It is also a cosmopolitan and international arena for these activities. Students from all over the world come to study in this college and they bring a lot of their own culture to the shows in which they display it. As the result of which not only a lot of international awareness is created but a lot on enrichment is generated in campus life.
Now I am well set on my journey and hope to finish it as beautifully as I started it so that I can always remember my Alma mater with nostalgic memories.

As a part of its Corporate Social Responsibility initiative, MAII believes in building a well-informed and holistic academic environment where it can operate as a responsible institutional citizen. To further this goal, MAII seeks to provide free seminars to schools, colleges and NGO’s. The conduct of free seminars at schools is an attempt at three-pronged empowerment-that of school, society and MAII.

The objective of this initiative is to build a healthy and long term relationship with schools and enables the students and teachers to avail of counseling ,holistic education and guidance provided by the well informed and experienced faculty of MAII. The topic of guidance chosen by mutual understanding between the schools and MAII would be those that have a far reaching impact on their education and career opportunities.

Modi Apollo International Institute (MAII) started with the a daughter’s faith in her grandfather’s entrepreneurial genes. When Charu Modi Bhartia, grand-daughter of Rai Gujarmal Modi, went for her higher education to Phoenix in USA after completing her graduation in Delhi University, she was struck by the difference between the Indian and American education models.
